Cosmetic

Our team offers a variety of cosmetic dentistry options to improve the look of patients’ smile and overall dental health. We use a variety of techniques to achieve the patients’ aesthetic goals; including, white fillings, teeth whitening, and dental veneers.

We offer white fillings. Many patients prefer having cavities filled with white fillings. This preserves the natural look and overall aesthetics of their smile. White fillings are created using a tooth-coloured resin material which matches the colour of their existing teeth. White fillings bond to a patient’s teeth and create a tight seal. This restores the tooth and maintains the aesthetics of their smile.

Dental Veneers are an option to improve dental aesthetics. Dental veneers are very thin laminates of porcelain which bond to the front of patients’ teeth. Therefore, we can change the shape and improve the colour of a patient’s teeth.

Dentures

Common reasons people require dentures include loss of teeth, enhancing your smile and facial tissues and improving chewing, speech and digestion. There are two types of dentures:

Complete Dentures
Complete dentures are worn when all teeth are missing and can be either conventional or immediate.

Conventional dentures are made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed. This usually takes four to six weeks, and the patient goes without teeth during this time.

Immediate dentures are made in advance and are immediately placed after the teeth are removed, preventing the patient from having to go without teeth during the healing process. Once the tissues shrink and heal, adjustments are made to the dentures.

Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. They fill in the spaces created by missing teeth, while also preventing other teeth from shifting.

When getting used to your new dentures, you may experience increased saliva flow, soreness and possible difficulty chewing or speaking, but these issues will pass as your muscles and tissues adjust.

Our friendly team will instruct you on how to care for your new dentures, as proper cleaning, good oral hygiene and regular dental visits will help your dentures last for years. Dentures are very durable, but over time they will need repairs, adjustments or remaking due to normal wear. We are happy to provide these denture repairs for our patients.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are very thin shells that are attached to the front part of teeth. They are often made of porcelain or composite resin. Porcelain veneers are stronger than composite resin veneers and do not change colour or stain. Generally, porcelain veneers take at least 2 dental visits to apply and composite resin veneers can be done in 1 visit. Porcelain veneers generally last longer than composite resin veneers.

Veneers are an excellent alternative to crowns in many situations. They provide a much more conservative approach to changing a tooth’s color, size or shape. Veneers can mask undesirable defects, such as teeth stained by tetracycline and damage due to an injury or as a result of a root-canal procedure. They are ideal for masking discolored fillings in front teeth. Patients with gaps between their front teeth or teeth that are chipped or worn may consider veneers.

Generally, veneers will last for many years, and the technique has shown remarkable longevity when properly performed. Contact us for a Free Digital Smile Design appointment!
